Snowball Viburnum Hedge

Snowball Viburnum Hedge

Flowering shrubs add elegance to any garden, and with its gorgeous, 5–8" flowerheads, you can see why this is one of our favourites. The flowers emerge lime green in early summer before turning a bright white that seems to glow in the moonlight. Although the blooms aren't fragrant, their nectar still attracts lots of pretty butterflies. Its dark green, ovate leaves are the perfect backdrop for its flowerheads and neighbouring perennials, and grow densely enough to use as part of a natural privacy screen. Snowball Viburnum is a deciduous shrub in Northern climates and can be semi-evergreen in warmer grow zones. Growing 6–10' tall with a similarly sized spread, this shrub has a rounded, vase-shaped habit. It tolerates a wide range of soils, but for best results, plant in well-drained, acidic, loamy soil in full sun to partial shade. Zones 6–9.
